Between the above points (all but the last)
though distinguishable enough in idea the connection
is so intimate in practice that it is
difficult to apply to any one of them a proof
that applies not to the rest.

That individuals will not be altogether
wanting who will be ready to take the proposed
paper at the price put upon it in the way
of specie is inferred from this simple proposition
viz: that where a man has it equally in his
power to receive £100 or £103, it is upon the
latter sum that his choice will fix: in other words
that if by securing and keeping his money in a particular
shape he can for every £10 remove at the end
of the year an addition to the amount of 6 which
he could not receive otherwise, he will choose to receive
it in that shape: — and so with regard to every
lesser portion of time: so small a portion as a week day not excepted.

In this however a necessary supposition is involved,
viz: that he can not circumstanced as
his money is it would not be in his power to
obtain any a greater mass of advantage (trouble and
risk being taken into account) by receiving and
keeping his money in any other shape.
