II. That the proposed prices will be no bar
if supposing the commodity to be in other respects
suited to the market — then the proposed price will be
no bar, although so high as not to yield
quite 3 per Cent for money, which Stock Annuities
standing upon the same ground in
respect of expense to redemption yield almost
8 per Cent is another supposition equally
warranted by experience.
The total quantity of Banker's Paper (i:e:
paper issued by Country Bankers for Town Bankers
issue server) has been estimated reckoned by some persons
to fall some short be somewhat less by other very able and
competent judges to be somew considerably more
than the quantity of Bank of England paper
which may be set down at about 12 millions.+ + Reference? of this Ban Country paper a part is bears in
the same shape as Bank of England paper, bearing no interest,
and but payable on demand. But another other part
and by far the greater is in the shape of
paper bearing interest, and not payable on demand

paper is subject to considerable variation, being
different not only in different places, but in the
same Bank at different times. In no place however,
nor at any time can it be so high as 5 per
Cent: since if it were nothing would be to be got
by issuing the paper at that rate. A rule
