For Bankruptcy or Official Assistance to Collectioneers
Exist there a high seated functionary, who prefers public
service to his own patronage, let him read the following passage
as quoted by in the lead of the Morning Chronicle for a
work of Gol Goldsmith –
: When Dr. Goldsmith was at Leyden, the Professors
asked him whether Edinburgh, which had taken
all the English medical students from them, was a rich
University? He told them the Professor Edinburgh
had nothing but what they made by their exertions. We
suspected as much, they said, and we fear we shall
have no more English students, till the Edinburgh Professors
are better endowed.
