Be the object what it may never
without pain do I give utterance to disapprobation
— never without pleasure do the opposite social feeling to approbation.
Be the object what it may much more when he
is my friend & that friend occupying a situation
of high importance in the service of the state.
In my last I gave expression to the satisfaction
I felt in contemplating at the sight of the
extension given by the Ld Chancellor
to the portion of the year during which
the judicating over which he so illustriously
presides justice or that to which
the name of justice in addition to that
of Equity is administered. On the
present occasion I have the further satisfaction
of applying the like sentiment
to a measure of his no less remarkable
for its importance than for the face
of singularity which it cannot but
be a present when it comes to be
carried into practice. I mean
the measure of calling up to the
highest Equity beneh the sitting parts
at present sitting in the two subordinate ones
