2 §.1. Abstract

Of this mode the
characteristic is -
that it occurs but
once in a mans
life -
Of this mode the characteristic circumstance is —
that the it is only at once contains in the course of
a mans life, or at the utmost, upon the casual recurrence
of the reason in question i.e: of a man's his being
admitted to a new station in life that the declaration
that to which the character of a qualification with regard
to the station in question is given, causes to be made.
This may be Accompanied or
not by verbal oral
declaration in form
of an oath with
or without the
ceremony of an
oath.
In addition to or in place of this the scriptitious
declaration thus made in the scriptitious mode, may
be a declaration to the like effect by word of mouth:
to which oral declaration it may happen to be accompanied
or not accompanied by the ceremony of
an oath.
Distinctiones gratia
call this the
introductive mode
For the purpose of setting on it a mark of
destruction call this mode the introductive mode
Where the
occasion is liable
to recur at any
time ch. gr. on
each performance
of any function
call it the habitual
mode.
2. Where the occasion is of that sort which is liable
to recurr at any time — for example as often
as this or that one of the functions attached to the office
causes to be performed, it may be distinguished by the
appellation of the habitual mode.
Oral will here naturally
be more frequently
employed that written
discourse
[As] in In the exercise of these functions the mode of
expression by oral discourse will naturally be more
frequently employed than that by written discourse
