the case of insincerity. Comes next the case in which the
declaration is sincere.

as above.

Of the self-deceptive process the nature has been
brought to view. If the case be such that In the instance
of the individual in question, suppose it [to have been] employed. [and observe the consequences.]

Th
The mischief
of such an operation
has already
been seen.

The consequences of such an operation of this sort
the consequences effects the mischievous f effects produced by it
upon the human mind have already in good measure
been brought to view. By the very name appellation applied
to the designation of it - and to the propriety of the appellation
can any objection be made? the of the nature
of the mischief with which it is pregnant some intimation
has already been conveyed.

The mischief
of such an operation
is not confined
to the occasion
here in question
In proportion to
the frequency of the
operation the judgment
is distorted &
weakened. Right
& wrong will become
similar & the faculty
of distinguishing them
more & more weakened
enfeebled.

Of such an operation the mischievous effect is by no
means confined to the occasion and particular occasion in which subject to in relation
to which it has on the particular instance in question been employed.
In proportion to the frequency with which it is use and the
length of term during which it is on each occasion employed,
the judgment is as it were turned aside, forcibly
turned aside out of its right course, and by the p perversion —
by the distortion weakened. To an eye thus
exercised, in proportion to the frequency of the exercise the
faculty with which it is performed, and the sinister power mastery thus
acquired, right and wrong will p come to present themselves
in the same colours, and the faculty of distinguishing them
be continually more and more enfeebled.

Mischief. 3. Enfeeblement
of judicial faculty.

2 Mischief the 3d. Distortion and enfeeblement of the judicial
faculty in mans frame
