§.1. Abstract

In point of

In point of title to credence, all in any point of
doctrine comprised in a set of subscribed articles, or
in a fixt form referred to by any such articles, to
any such purpose as that of [-] [-] serving in the character
of a ground of for
adoptive persuasion
grounding in the declared opinion
of any man by whom any such articles have been
subscribed to, is neither more or less than upon a
par with that of any the practices of any art or
trade who to his being brought into court to depose give his testimony <add>opinion</add> in the
character of a scientific witness, should have
entered into a contract by under which the quantum of the
compensation to be to him in that character was to made to
depend upon the side taken by his testimony, or upon
the event of the suit. In a word of every so
circumstanced the testimony is in point of credibility liable to condemn
on the part of what is usually understood by a
witness. So far at the least as concerns the matter
of any such articles, every subscriber to articles, should
in so far as he takes upon himself the task of pacifying
the informers deduced from the sacred
text by any one of those articles, be considered looked upon as
as bearing and in Westminster Hall walking to and fro
