§.2.
On an occasion of this sort three distinguishable
assertions are assertions of the three following imports
are commonly put into a man's mouth
1. That the thought of his having advanced the done as what he has
done advanced the opinion he has advanced is
to him a source of sorrow and repentance regret.
2. That in doing what the opinions so advanced
there is more or less of error.
3. That in while and by advancing the opinions so
advanced, he has had been sinning against conscience,
knowing occupied in the violation of a some moral and
religious duty and moral duty.
1. Of these three distinguishable assertions the former
has most commonly it may well be supposed been
true. Pain In some shape or other he has been exposing himself
to, and, in to an amount more or less considerable,
been suffering. What That which though it sometimes
happens does not commonly happen most commonly
is that this pain finds in some concomitant mass
of pleasure an overbalance.
