Use of the prostration &c
in the present case.
People while they see
a Church and a State
Minister encouraging
men to poison them,
inwardly confess they
deserve it and even
made for it, and
so acquiesce in it
Now then the prostration of the understanding and
will in the production of which the Catechism is the instrument avowedly
employed what in the present instance what as applied
to the present purpose is the use? Amongst others, It is this: that
should it happen to the people or any part of the people to see a Minister depend
dependent
to see a dependent of the those who govern the Ministry a Minister poisoning them for the
sake of the money that is to be got by doing so, and the
for the sake of maintaining himself in power a Minister
encouraging the poisoner to pursue his course, they may
in the dejection that which results from their abasement
confess within themselves that it is what they were
made for, and what on pain of damnation they are
bound to submit to and acquiesce in.
