2. Vansittart

4

Far be it from me to alt the Oxford Graduate on the present occasion or
any other to ascribe to Mr Vansittart or any other
Right Honourable Gentleman on or about his place any
bad motive: meaning by bad if it means any thing, any
motive which it would not be agreeable to any such Right
Honourable person to have see ascribed to him had rather
not see than see ascribed to him than see. The Among
the fruits of any such metaphysics might be the having to a discussion an argument discussions
argue before a Jury directed by Lord Ellenborough an argument
on the question has whether I should be suffered to sp in what place I should spend the
remainder of my days whether in my own house, or in
some jail, with or without access to pen ink and paper
and light of human face divine, [and this without the faculty
of saying a syllable in my own defence.] being obliged forced all
the while to stand mute unless I would consent to deprive
myself of all professional assistance.

The truth is — that I really can not in my own mind
I really can not be assured what were Mr Vansittart's motives
