Mr Bowring procured this employment for my
Son. this Son is twenty one years of age He
(George Fletcher) is known to Dr. Gilchrist, in Charges £1 —
from whom I have reced very flattering accounts
of this Son — the distinguishing characteristics of
whose infancy were — an undeing adherence
to the strictest truth, and extreme docility. —
this younger boy is more hasty, and wilful
in his temper — but a well disposed boy. —
This young boy has never slept a night
from under the paternal roof — or scarcely been
an hour from under my own eye ekcept when
at the Day School he attends. His character
might be had of his Master — Mr Edward Battam,
Worksop Nottinghamshire.
What I wish to ascertain venerable Sir, is whether
you really do approve of this Hazlewood School. —
a line written by your amanuensis — if I might
hope for such a favour — and addressed to Mrs George
Fletcher Worksop Nottinghamshire would greatly favour
Venerable Sir Your most admiring Servant
Eliz. Fletcher
