I could obtain from any other head, hand, but able on my death to carry
on the thread of them. In 1823, he published a French translation he
had made, with considerable improvements, of the logical part of my Chrestomathia.+
He has in hand for completion and publication, papers of mine
of old standing which when completed, as he expects them to be, in about
6 months, are intended to appear in two Volumes, intituled Logic and its
Uses
, and Language and its improvement. For this last, he is the better
qualified, by his acquaintance with several languages, of which I have
myself little, or none — an advantage derived from residence in, or visits paid to,
the countries in which they are spoken: while in other respects he is of use to me and by the intercourse he has had with
by what general he has with English law; and the acquaintance
has with the state of politics and and manners in France, derived from an intercourse with
Frenchmen of all ranks from the highest to the lowest, and in particular by
an acquaintance, derived from together with some experience of with French law. He has
just ready for the press in a small 8vo an examination of Dr. Whateley's
lately published work on Logic: though at odd times written, the whole of
it, in my house, I neither have not shall I have had time to see or hear
any part of it./ Such as he is, by the notice you have taken of his present communication has
of course placed him at your command for any repetition of it: other occasion: and it is by this consideration

+ which together with a small botanical work more recently published begs
herewith your acceptance.
