it is much better policy to connect the
administration of magisterial duties in such
a metropolis as this — to the Class of persons
who will be induced by a salary of eight
hundred a year to undertake them — than either to leave
them to be performed gratuitously — or to be
contented with such functionaries as can be
procured for two hundred Pounds a year —

Judge the Letter and Observations which
your nephew Mr George Bentham was good

conformity with my own — that they are highly
