authentic intelligence from Greece

I have a plan in my mind for the establishment
of a post. Without the means of conveying ideas, neither
the military, commercial, nor political affairs can prosper.
I also wish to establish a hospital and dispensary.

What is most wanted in Greece is, a press, cau—
tiously directed— cautiously on account of ears, noses
& heads. However it is fair to say that the Greeks have
not been guilty of enormities towards their Christian
brethren towards Jews indeed they have not display
ed much of their kindness. Colloeotroni after
Corinth had surrendered to other chiefs, quietly march
ed up his followers for the purpose of plundering. The
friends of good Govt pretend that he has no good
quality. He was truly brave they say before he became
wealthy. They pretend too that he & his adherents are
most unpopular.

28th novb The following account of a naval victory
may I hope, be relied on. The Greek fleet consisting of
9 vessels, coud by Meaouis attacked 11 Turkish ships
near the island of Seiatho. They fought for 6 hours.
The result was glorious for to the Greeks. They took 1 cor—
vet of 24 guns 3 brigs & 1 transport, two ships they
burnt, 4 they drove on shore, & one only esp escaped.
