My friend more worthy,
I am upon the eve of opening
negociations with this government of great scope
and more than common interest, the preparation for
which in conjunction with the current business
and correspondence of my Legation keep me constantly
employed, more so I can truly say than
at any former period since I have been in this
country. For tomorrow I have an engagement
with a member of the government, and for next
week I have really so much more business carved
out than I can do well, that already I have
felt myself forced to decline two invitations for
