the garrisons of Modona & Corone; & the absence of
the Soldiery would enable the Government to organize
it's different Departments and ascertain by some proper
survey the extent of the National Property, great
part of which is now arbitrarily occupied. Surveyors
must be sent from hence.
You will most probably ere this have visited the
Isthmus of Corinth & have seen the necessity of drawing
a chain of small forts across it, upon Col. Buich's
System, so as to prevent a surprise similar to that of
last year, as the Aeropolis of that town no longer
commands the pass & there are plenty of materials in
the immediate neighbourhood.
I hear that M. Blaquiere proceeds to Greece, as
soon as his work upon that country is printed, for the
purpose of obtaining the ratification of the Greek Government
to the Loan — I may have been misinformed
when I am told that this will occupy some time: I cannot
comprehend why all M. B's book cd. not be published
during his absence, some friend could surely superintend
that matter. The ratification to the Loan cd. be
obtained in a very short space of time, as one can with great
ease travel from London to Ancona in 8 days, 6 from
