New York June 18th 1824.

Dear Sir,

Mr Phillips an Officer of the American
Army intends making a tour thro England and the
Continent partly for the benefit of his health partly
with a view to the indulgence of his curiosity. —

Permit me to ask of you to make him acquainted
with your Chrestomathic plan of Education for
the benefit of my Countrymen. It is beginning to
excite their attention. You will find Mr Phillips a
man of talents and information well acquainted with
American affairs and competent to give you a correct
exposition of them. His honor and integrity give
him claims to entire confidence.

With the warmest wishes for your continued good health
and happiness, and with sentiments of the highest respect
I remain:
Henry M. Francis

J. Bentham Esqr
