E.d Blaquiere Paris to J. Bowring Freeman's Court Cornhill
"on Sunday next. In speaking of Mr. B. he seemed enraptured
"with him, observing that any one of the works published by
"Dumont, were sufficient to immortalize his name. I was
"much struck by the physiognomy and manner of this extraordinary
"man, and my impression is that, he combines
"more of the primitive Christian, just as those whom Christ
"selected to preach his doctrines, than any one else I ever saw
"or heard of. We passed a part of this evening as Mr. Clarke's
"where I met M Julien, a man of some notoriety, and Editor
"of the Revue Encyclopèdique, a work that is rising fast, and
"which I propose making subservient to the interests of the
"good cause as much as in me lieth. An article on the consejos
"is to appear in the Courrier forthwith. I also hope to
"make them known through the Revue. Llavente is here, but in
"disgrace with M. and myself for having inserted an article
"in said Revue, giving a most partial and incorrect
"account of the periodical and daily press at Madrid.
"I shall take an early opportunity of finding out your friend
"of the annales protestantes. There is only room to congratulate
"you on the triumph of the people, through the
"Queen, I hope the victory will be followed up. I have sent
"all the Continental news I could pick up over, but, I dare
"say, Mr. P. has found it convenient to omit a great part,
"if not all of it I say this, because a letter of the 25th. had
"not appeared up to the 2d. Matters are assuming a formidable
"aspect on this side the water. In other words,
"the Inns are doing all they can to promote a row, and
"get themselves turned out!
