1
Ch. or §. {Of} veracity — how resolvable into reducible to prudence, probity
and beneficence
Veracity is probity obviously Upon the first insution hint
given, veracity it is believed will be recognized to be
but a subordinate and subservient virtue.
Suppose no breach either of prudence or of probity
or of beneficence no br mischief from a breach of
veracity will be to be found
The In the supposition there not be any difficulty:
but to find cases in which it is verified, that will it
is believed be found much less easy than perhaps might at first sight
be imagined.
Of the inf which stock of information, upon the
correctness of which life and every whatsoever thing that contributes
to render make life valuable depends, small in comparison
is the spot part which a mans own personal experience or observation
is able to supply him with: for all the
rest he is dependent upon the veracity of those from
whom it is derived.
