To the imputation which this word is employed to convey
no precise idea being attached, it is therefore but
so much the more impressive: and great and constant
are the privations and inconveniences which many a man has been made
to which by the force of it many a man has been made
to subject himself

habit of rendering to the superior in question this or that service
which in to a person in his situation, according to the received notions of propriety,
ought not to be render by a person in this situation,
