§.2. Deontologic.
§.3. Deontological Ethics — its fundamental positions.
1 To any discourse the name of deontological Ethics
may with truth and propriety be applied in so far as it has
for its object the determining the cond on any sort of occasion
the conduct of any human being, otherwise than by +

2. For determining the conduct of man on any occasion
there can be but one means (see §.2 Exegetical Ethics)
which is thus causing him producing in his mind the
conception or imagination that in the event of his giving
to his conduct that direction his interest will be served
in some shape or other without being disserved to in a greater
degree in any other shape or shapes ( Correct this, conforming
it with §.2. Exegetics or translate it in to the language of pain and pleasure.)
3. For the production of this effect the nature of things men
admitts of two distinguishable causes: 1. simple indication
of motives — 2. creation of motives.
Proceed to shew
1. How by simple indication of already existing motives
conduct is determined
2. Modes in which without political power or influence motives
are created: viz
1. Excitation & direction of sympathetic effects
2. Excitation & direction of unsympathetic affection
3. Expression of approbation
4. Expression of disapprobation
The two last applications made of the force of the moral or popular
sanctions
