as exemplified in the conduct of the thoughts, and Prudence as
exemplified in physical action

effects say in pathol but such as affect the agent himself, say purely self-regarding effects and prudence exemplified
in action productive of effects affecting individuals other
than himself — say extra-regarding effects
Division of Self-regarding prudence as exemplified in
production of none but self-regarding effects into negative and positive:
as exemplified in the conduct of the thoughts into avoid
negative and positive: negative consisting in the avoidance of
self annoyance; positive consisting in self-gratification.
