Division of Purely Self-regarding Prudence into Prudence
as exemplified in the conduct of the thoughts, and Prudence as
exemplified in physical action

Division of Prudence as exemplified in physical action
into do as exemplified in action productive of no pathological
effects say in pathol but such as affect the agent himself, say purely self-regarding effects and prudence exemplified
in action productive of effects affecting individuals other
than himself — say extra-regarding effects

Division of Self-regarding prudence as exemplified in
production of none but self-regarding effects into negative and positive:

as exemplified in the conduct of the thoughts into avoid
negative and positive: negative consisting in the avoidance of
self annoyance; positive consisting in self-gratification.
