Beneficence it has been already remarked is not necessarily a
virtue. The portion of it To render services, — to do good to others is not
always a virtuous act — Any man who spends money is beneficent —
& a of good — but there is no virtue in the doing so — To such acts the
common functions of nature is beneficent — to eat & drink — to sleep —
to — any thing, which by which good is done. A Which benficificence offers from effective benevolence, tho it may be a good — it is not a virtue.
