Chrest. Tab. II

In case where the geometrical form is the form in
which the subject presents itself in the first instance, and
in the translation which is made made is a translation from
this geometrical form into the algebraical, here no
in this case here no fiction has place here what is done
may be done and is done without the use of fiction without any
recourse to fiction, and as to the advantage looked for
from the translation, an obvious one that presents itself
is the abbreviation which is forms an essential character
of in the algebraical algebraic form. For In From the opposite
mode species of translation viz that from the algebraic form into
the geometrical, fiction is inseparable: why? because
where by the supposition figure does not form part of
the case, figure is stated as forming part of the case.
But where the translation transference is from the geometrical form
into the algebraical neither in this nor in any other
shape has fiction any place. Why? because though
in the case as first stated, figure has place, yet if
the reference to the figure be not necessary to the finding
the answer which is sought – to the doing what is required
or proposed to be done, the form circumstance
of the figure the particular nature of the figure,
is a circumstance the which without fiction may
be neglected and left out of the account.
