Tis to the authors of such a Dictionary that it is reserved
to give the death-stroke to that legion of disputes, which
otherwise the abuse of words would make immortal: Tis
for that them and them alone, to reduce what men call Science
to what really they know.

This Dictionary, copied into all languages, would
be the general repository for almost all the ideas that
men have. To each expression let their be attached
precise ideas and the School-magician who by dint
of words has so oft thrown the world into confusion
will be but a Wizard without his wand. Then shall

those Cracked-pates who under the name of Metaphysicians
have been roaming to and fro for so many
ages in the region of chimeras, and who on wind blown
bladders have been traversing in all directions the —
abysses of infinity, then shall those crack-pates no —
longer make the world believe they know what it is
impossible any one should know; they see what is not
there to see.
