[The] principle and [the] motive are terms things so nearly

by swayed by, that is originates, takes its rise from the principle of revenge, and that it+ +is governed or actuated or swayed by, or that it is governed
by the motive of anger, that it originates in or takes its rise from

that community or to mankind, or for the pleasure he
feels in the consciousness or the expectation of being esteemed
by those whose good-will he thinks it his interest to
conciliate.
