SECT. V. Law of Nations

We not are come in principle understanding of the Law of Nature.
The Natural Law dictated not revealed: The Divine
Law revealed, considering seeing that there was no occasion.
The Natural Law, God's Law, that is, not God's
Law, but one one's who took it into his head to write
about it. by God himself; that is formed by ethical writers. The Natural Law again existed a real Law: that
is not any thing that is: but something that we imagine.

The Natural Law a Law which we imagine to be such
taking into human reason, like a Constable to our
assistance: we having nothing to do with said reason
when we are about our ordinary affairs. The Divine
Law not the Divine Law, but that Law source of nature which
is different from it, expressly declared so to be by God
himself (for we who live now are too sore to make a
question of it,) no thanks it seems for this once without being beholden to said human
reason for making us so: considering seeing that said human
reason has is a thing personage that we have nothing to do with, when we are about
such extraordinary affairs.

LAW of NATURE.
Discover.

After being "laid down" [p.40] "dictated by God himself"
[p.45] "necessarily" and "inevitable" "conformed to" (p.39]
" with mankind itself" [p.41] "the purport of" it still remains
to be "discovered": to be discovered by a "faculty given"
him for the purpose, which faculty are is a faculty that can not
discover it after all [p.41]. For its discovery being discovered it
[is obliged to] has to wait after all this, for another Law,
which is different and the same.
