If by a deed inter vivos I that give a man
an Estate, it is not his to dispose of; it
goes not to his Children. The reason is
plain. I have not said as much. To
him I gave it - he has it: I gave it
not to any body else. it goes not therefore
to any one else - after his death it returns
again to me.
But I now give it to him and his "heirs." What
is the consequence? that his heirs whoever
they be take it after him. Why? because
I gave it them. But suppose he has
none what becomes of it then? It comes Why, what
<add>(a man would notwithstanding say) should be come of it; but that it should come </add>
back again, could to me, as
before. to him I them I gave it. I gave it to no one
else. [No matter]+ +All this signifies nothing. tis not I who get it in
that case, but the King whom I never dreamt of

giving it to.
Another thing. Not a syllable have I said
about his assigns. to give him a power to give it to any body
else: not a syllable have I said about
his assigns. When I omitted to make mention
of his Heirs it was not to go to
his heirs, because I had not mentioned
them. No more have I now mentioned
his Assigns: no matter: The Law
which I never thought of does it for
me. Not a syllable has any body
ever said to me to inform me of any
such disposition of the Law: no matter:
it was my business to have found it
out. without having any <add> any imaginable intention</add>
all the while to lead me to repeat it but
to [put me upon the search] +lead me to suspectit.
