1825. Jany. 20
Procedure Code

Ch. Preface
§.

Reason proper. Inaccessible to them they can not endure the
thought of its being conceived and executed by others

An objection which has been frequently heard to
be made against Codification in general will apply applies with
at least equal force and propriety and force to that
same process operation when applied to the subject of Procedure
This is the apparent alledged impossibility of comprehending the
undertaking the supposed impossibility of comprehending
by any f
taking an all comprehensive view of the subject
and giving utterance to the result in an adequately
expressive body of discourse The answer is — a denial
of the antecedent — and a denial that even if the antecedent
was admitted the consequence would c follow

Of those by whom the antecedent is arrived at
what is plain enough is — that they are utterly unacquainted
with that sort of information the possession of
which would be necessary to warrant a person in
pronouncing any such opinion they are unacquainted
with the power of the human mind, and of the power
there is in language as to the giving apt expression to
the results of the exercise of those powers as applied to
the subject in question That Of possibility
fact will may it is hoped be received as a tolerably satisfactory
proof that which has thus been pronounced impossible
may have be seen actually done

Bonaparte's Collection of Codes though not executed upon any
such exhaustive plan might of itself have sufficed to
st as a practical demonstration of the groundlessness of the
supposite.

Go on to say the option is between real law how imperfectly so
ever executed and law purely imaginary: they suppose nothing preferable to something &c
