Of Justifications.
Justification what. Justification in Law is the shewing
that what one has done is done according to Law.
"Justification" for "ground of Justification". The term Justification is herein after
employed for shortness, instead of saying ground
of Justification.
A ground of Justification, what. A ground of Justification is any circumstance,
the existence of which when applied
to any act in question, proves the act to have been
done according to Law.
— its effect The effect of a Justification is accordingly
to exempt the person in question from punishment
altogether.
Lawful cause — Right — Not injurious — No injury. An act which is accompanied by any
circumstance which is a ground of justification
is said also to be done with lawful cause: and
the person may be said to have a right to do it.
and it may be said to be not injurious:
and the doing it may be said to be no injury.
