for the elegances
of dress & furniture

gives pleasure to the eye or to the ear contributes
to this effect: for games & pastimes even gaming that dangerous
pleasure of the imagination seems upon
the whole to be the less dangerous of the two. But
perhaps the most effectual diversion of all in

the rest serve rather to drain the source from to
whence which the propensity is to derive look for it's gratification:
but these undermine come more closely
to the point and undermine the propensity
itself. What the legislator can do in the positive
way toward favouring this revolution is
perhaps no great matter: it is of importance
however for him to be aware of the good
tendency of it that he may be cautious take care of not
