It is so perfectly unnecessary to state to you, Sir,
how much interested is Great Britain in obtaining an
introduction of her Manufacturers into every part of the
Continent of Europe, most particularly at the present period,
and consequently how detrimental must be any increase
of duties on such a staple article as Woollens, that we
shall abstain from entering into this particular. We have
merely to entreat that after mature consideration, you
will be pleased to lay this representation before His
Majesty's Government, in hopes that such steps may be
taken as will secure our rights & privileges recognised
by a solemn Treaty between the Two Governments.
