Like everything else, in
on practice depends its
use: in morphoscopic
posology indicate the use
of each truth; for only
thus is the expence time & labor recompensed;
& scholar's
attention thus secured.
As in the instance of every other branch of art and
science so in this, on the application of it to practice
depends the use and all the use of which it is susceptible
Here already may be seen an importa indication of
prime importance relative to the mode of facilitating instruction.
In morphoscopic posology, on the occasion of the
several propositions in and by which the truths belonging to it are
expressed, omitt not to afford an indication of the
the principal occasions on which application is made
of it or may be made of it to practice, in other words
of the principal uses of it. For it is by this means and
this means only that payment for the time and labour
expended on the subject made, and the obligation burthen
imposed by the teacher on the scholars, justified. By this
same means also is the attention of the scholar animated
and kept alive, and the uneasiness clarity substituted infused to soften to the
uneasiness which may be wholly inseparable from
the contention of mind without which none of the ideas
in question can be taken into the conception and lodged
in the memory
