So much for the uses of posology considered in its totality
In their several places will be brought to view indications of the several
uses of the several portions of information contained in the matter
of that this same branch of art and science

this work will consist
of an exposition of
its uses, its branches

Hence it is that of this work the matter of an indispensable and
leading portion will consist of an exposition of its uses;
of the whole together, of each of the branches with which there
will be occasion to divide it: nay, and in the case of one
of the two branches into which at the first divisional operation
it is divided, namely Geometry the use or uses
of each and every proposition contained in it.

Its repulsiveness
already mentioned —
proportioned, its the
difficulty of attainment,
and need of
overcoming it — first
means of facilitation
persuading learners
of its usefulness.

Of Its natural and internal repulsiveness as well in its present state mention
has been already made (☞ Refer to Introduction) Proportioned to
this repulsiveness and thence the difficulty of attaining it: and thence will be the need of overcoming of
that repulsiveness by every thing that can be done in the
way of facilitation: of which one means nor that the least
effective — is the impressing upon the minds of learners the
conception and persuasion of its usefulness. This may be considered
as the first means of facilitation: and, in the chapter next
to this others not to say the rest will be seen to follow.
