Finding their deals in danger — "some of the best friends of the Volunteers" (Hardy 262) i.e. Lord Charlemont with
his two representatives all together with other Whig Seat holders
and Your representatives joined with concurred with Government
(but "unavailingly") in their endeavours to check the progress
of the Volunteers
befriend their constituents by "checking
their progress. These endeavours being "unavailing" the next
thing that could be done was accordingly done, namely the
engaging them to choose such delegates as "in a good measure
"soothed the fears of government:" namely for Armagh, Lord
Charlemont his intimate Mr Brimelow and there announced
"gentlemen of rank and consequence" whose names the producer
of the biographer has suppressed: for Tyrone, the aforesaid
Mr Stewart afterwards created Earl of Londonderry. Thereupon
comes some account of the Right Reverend and Right singular
Earl.

Lord Ch Rivals pursue — Lord Charlemont's Bishop of Derry,
Orater Flood's. The Bishop supplants the President; the Orater
the Bishop. Object real or apparent probably real of the Bishops zeal concession
of the elective franchise to the Catholics: object apparent
of the Orater, parliamentary reform. Charlemont being against
both objects, neither of the Bishop nor and Orater meet with are both covered
though in his gentlemanly state, with sarcasm from the biographer.
