Dear Sr
I recd yours, & am much concerned
to find I have been in an Error for
some Time past, for I conceived
that the Panopticon to the opponents
of your Bill in the House of
Commons viz: ! Mr Thornton, Mr
Dent &c which was made by
Mr Dundas as I understood from
them (& which seemed I confess
necessary to make, or the Bill
would have been lost) had been
with your Acquiescence at least,
if not your Approbation, under
which Idea I assented to it, &
the Bill passed the Commons — I was
not in Town when the Bill passed
the Committee because I
