Just a quick note on the 'SS' conundrum - we think that the first instance, in the note, should probably read 'asseras', though we'll have to check this with a Latin-reading colleague. We put together a list of examples of Bentham's handwriting, which may be of assistance.

The second example appears to be the symbol for section, though we've left it as an 'SS' for the time being, as it's as good a way as any to represent it!
