Your transcript of JB/014/254/001 has been checked and accepted by the Transcribe Bentham editors. This was a very good transcript, despite you thinking that you were a bit rusty! We were able to help with a few unclear words and added a missing line in the second paragraph. We also corrected some of your tags slightly – in particular the ‘underline’ tag. A reminder that you can see the changes that we made to your transcript by following the instructions at this link: http://www.transcribe-bentham.da.ulcc.ac.uk/td/Help:Feedback This completed transcript has now been locked to prevent other users from altering it. Many thanks for your submission and contribution to the project!

Hi Louise, It appears that JB/014/184/001 & JB/014/185/001 are duplicates.

Your transcript of JB/002/338/001 has been checked and accepted by the Transcribe Bentham editors. This transcript was mostly accurate, we just made a few little corrections and removed some of the unclear tags. You were right to leave the pencil writing alone – there is no need to transcribe marginalia written in pencil. This completed transcript has now been locked to prevent other users from altering it. Your transcript of JB/087/104/001 has been checked and accepted by the Transcribe Bentham editors. You’re right, this was a challenging page! You did well with the transcription and tagging here though. We were able to clarify a few of the words you were unsure about and removed some of the unclear tags. We also moved the position of the marginal note up the page, to the point where Bentham signified that it should be inserted. You can see all the changes we made by following this link: http://www.transcribe-bentham.da.ulcc.ac.uk/td/Help:Feedback This completed transcript has now been locked to prevent other users from altering it. Your transcript of JB/087/103/001 has been checked and accepted by the Transcribe Bentham editors. The transcript was largely accurate and tags were applied well. One thing to bear in mind with the gap tag - a separate gap tag should be inserted for each illegible word. These papers are part of Bentham’s writings on the topic of ‘indirect legislation’, that is ways in which the government could influence people’s behaviour without directly applying punishments. If you would like to, you can read a bit more about indirect legislation in this blog post: http://blogs.ucl.ac.uk/transcribe-bentham/2015/02/16/box-150-a-thank-you-from-the-bentham-project/ This completed transcript has now been locked to prevent other users from altering it. Your transcript of JB/087/102/003 has been checked and accepted by the Transcribe Bentham editors. Again this was a strong transcript, there were just a few words that we corrected and gaps that we filled in. You also forgot to add a paragraph tag to the second paragraph. You handled the tagging and transcription of the triple correction in the second paragraph expertly! We moved your marginal note slightly – it should be positioned where Bentham includes a symbol in the main body of the text to identify the point of attachment of the note. If anything is unclear, please do get in touch. Many thanks for your submission and contribution to the project!

Your transcript of JB/087/102/003 has been checked and accepted by the Transcribe Bentham editors. This was a very good transcript, we only had to make a few small changes to the words and the tagging. You can see the changes we made by following the instructions at this link: http://www.transcribe-bentham.da.ulcc.ac.uk/td/Help:Feedback You dealt with the marginal note in the correct manner here. One thing to look out for are catchwords, where the first word from the following page is inserted in the right-hand lower corner of a manuscript folio below the last line. These should be marked with an addition tag. This completed transcript has now been locked to prevent other users from altering it. If you have any questions, feel free to send us a message. Many thanks for your submission and contribution to the project!

Hi, thanks so much for the feedback. I have a question: I am not a native French-speaker, should I not transcribe French content? What are the guidelines for Latin content? Thanks. Joe
