at his advanced age would undertake the fatigue of a journey
to Hazelwood; but if any gentleman in whose judgment
Mr. Bentham has confidence would favour us with
a visit we shall be heartily glad to see him & will
throw every thing open to his inspection —

In reading your letter a second time I find one question
which I have not answered. The boys talents are excellent
& they have a full share of the particular kind of
talent which is necessary for acquiring languages —

I told you yesterday that Father would write
to Mr Place & also to Mr Bentham. He wrote to Mr Place
but was obliged to defer writing to Mr. Bentham, & now
thinks it unnecessary as he Mr. Bentham has seen you —

I am sorry that you should be teazed with
this unpleasant business just as you are leaving London

Margaret tells me she has explained the mistake
respecting the letter from a Mr Evans — She takes it I
believe for granted that he is the same individual
with a gentm. who called at Hazelwood some time since
I believe he is but am not sure — I have written a
letter of apology to him
