I speak it with concern — the impression made by the first and as yet the only act,
by which the character of the new Protectorate has
shewn itself to this country, has not been — can not have been
a favourable one.

The mind of the Government "To civil affairs or penal," said

"with reluctance: of this reluctance, the ill-u injustice
"and ill usage which in various shapes which it has been

To this aversion no it is, that in our reluctance to part with the
conception which had been so delightful to us, to betake
ourselves we look with preference to for the cause of the unhospitable
