<p>1. <add><hi rend="underline">Simply</hi></add> <hi rend="underline">Confirmative</hi> function.</p>
<p>2. <hi rend="underline">Reversive</hi>: as where a thing given to a Pursuer<lb/> by the <del>Defender</del> <add>Immediate</add> Judicatory is given to the<lb/> Defender by the Appellate.</p>
<p>3. <add><hi rend="underline">Simply</hi></add> <hi rend="underline">Nullificative</hi>: as where, in a penal suit, a<lb/> Defender having been declared guilty by an<lb/> Immediate Judicatory, is declared not<lb/> guilty by the Appellate.</p>
<p>4. <hi rend="underline">Substitutive</hi>: as where neither the arrangement<lb/> prayed by a Pursuer, nor that prayed<lb/> by the Defender is made, but one different <lb/> from both.</p>
<p>5. <hi rend="underline">Modificative</hi>: confirming the subordinate <lb/> decree in part; altering it in any of the<lb/> above ways as to other part.</p>
<p>6. <hi rend="underline">Retro<add>trans</add>missive</hi> <add>or say <hi rend="underline">retromissive</hi></add>, for the purpose of fresh trial<lb/> in the inferior judicatory: namely as to<lb/> the whole of the facts collectively: or <add>as</add> to this<lb/> or that fact exclusively.</p>

1. Simply Confirmative function.

2. Reversive: as where a thing given to a Pursuer
