Of my confidence in your the personal character, ( of the Right Honourable gentleman
will judge) I have the honour of addressing, you will judge, Sir, from the fact that with these designs in my mind
I have not yet taken any steps so much as a single step for procuring subscriptions
for a Company, or for a person to be eventually employed sent out by
the leading subscribers for the purpose of takin making survey and
report. But as report for their information. At the same time under the uncertainty which necessarily
hangs over the result of an address such as this, then any ulterior alter suspension
of those a necessary steps is what I do can not regard myself
as warranted in giving the assurance of.

At present my affairs call be back to Paris
France from which country I have already obtained the
necessary passport. If I do do within between this and
[mention the day] receive the honour of an appointment from
you I shall conclude that your present engagements do not
afford the necessary leisure; but unless forbidden I shall
want at Paris be for some time waiting the honour
of your commands.
