Reg. Geo.
In general never to mention a thing in any Instrument
more than once, where once can be made to serve.
Rule of Commencement
The Time of commencement being placed at the one
head of the Table next after that which indicates the
sphere of Local Extent.
EXCEPTION
Where some Clauses have a different commencement from
the body of the Act: if few in number those clauses may
be noted referred to to us in the clause of commencement as containing
exceptions to it.
Example CLAUSE of Commencement
This Act commences from the 4th of July 1774
except Sections g.23. & 54. which see." There under each
of these Sections their peculiar time of commencement
is to be expressed.
---page break---
If many they may be aggregated together separately —
from the rest of the Act, preceded by a general clause
of Commencement of their own
The two Commencement clauses will then stand thus —
CLAUSE 1st
This Act commences from the 4th July as far as the 36
first Sections.
CLAUSE 2d
What follows commences from the 30th of Sept.r 1774
But whether his be done by a 2d General Clause of Commencement
or by exceptions to the 1st depends a good deal
upon the Subject matters of the several substantial Clauses
whether they easily admitt or not of such a partition separation.
RULE OF EXTEnt Let the local extent of the Act be expressed once for all
at the head of the Table next before or after the clause —
of commencement.
COMPOS. Stat. Single qua Stat. — Commencement. Extent BR
