C 5 Extortion

Negative Extortion in a person at large Extortion is either in a person at large or in an office. Negative Extortion
in a person at large is where a person being bound (A) to render
you such or such a service to another person takes advantage of his your necessity by
refusing to perform it without such service, unless some reward be given him which
is not his due; and receives such reward accordingly.

Example As if a man having a large sum of money about him falls you, you fall into
a fit, and you he seeing him you in distress refuses to help him you
out unless he you will give you him the money: if you he receives the money
it is extortion: but if the man has you have wherewithal you he
may exact (and take) rec demand and receive a reasonable reward for your his assistance.

Or as if a man being in want of meat drink cloathing lodging
firing medicine medical attendance or other necessary things or or other necessaries (at a time when there is no general
scarcity) services and being so accustomed situated by reason of some particular circumstances that there is but such or such a particular person or persons that you can have recourse to you refuse a man refuses to supply him you but at an unreasonable
price: it is extortion for so much as you know he knows to be above the
reasonable price.

Reasonable Price — what In determining what is a reasonable price, regard
is however to be had to the occasional scarcity of the things commodity <add>article</add> in question.

Punishment The punishment for extortion in a person at large
shall be as follows
He may be fined to the amount of a years income
He may be simply reprimanded
He
