6. No Fraud to possess &c or Utter bad money when defaced. That which was once a piece of diminished or
counterfeit Coin is no longer to be deemed so, after it has
been defaced.(AA)

[(AA) Defaced] 1. Defacing, what — A piece of Coin is understood to be defaced,
when it has been so dealt with that it is plain no
one could expect to pass it off.

2. Best method of Defacing. The surest way of defacing a piece of Coin is by cutting it in two: that is dividing it into at least two parts as
nearly equal as they can readily be made.
