Of Rebellion
Taking gifts from the enemy. It is Treason if any one residing within
the dominions of the state, receive in time of
war, without permission of [the Sovereign] any
gift or pension from the sovereign of any other

Instructions to the Judge
Let the Judge in this case be on his guard
against evasions; for instance
1. By pretending a debt due from the Sovereign
from whom the gift or pension is received.
2. By pretending that the gift or pension is received
from a private hand.
3. By pretending that an equivalent is given
in return for the gift or pension.
