This rule taken without any restrictions is a very bad one: because it suppose
contrary to Truth, that Human Nature is liable but to one
Passion which is Avarice; that the slightest gratification
of that Passion will [commonly] be preferred to every other consideration
& the slightest present gratification to any future.
Yet - it ought not in the way of
