Authority (of the cradle)

viz. by weapons furnished
by Reason:
on the ground of politics
she is too firmly fixt
to be shaken by any such
force.

From the throne of By Bacon the authority of the cradle was expelled from the throne of physical science, Authority was the authority of the cradle
expelled by Bacon: expelled by such weapons force as Reason
furnishes

But on the ground of political science it is her throne appears as yet too firmly
fixt established to be shaken by any such force.

To The innovations novelties introduced by Bacon and
Newton had found no adverse interest to combat struggle against in the
breast of the ruling powers: those of Locke In the then new
views he gave of the foundations of Government found Locke even,
such at was his felicity found, a natural support and
assistance in the momentarily predominant interest of the ruling powers of that his
day; and from them he received his reward.

Suspicion, Jealousy,
Hatred, persecution
punishment — any thing
rather than gratitude
is the requital now
to be expected for
new and useful
public service in
the line of political
service.

Far different is the requital to be expected by
him who at this time shall seek to render useful
service to the public in the field of political service
Suspicion, Jealousy, Hatred, Persecution and
Punishment, most probably will be his present portion
and the only reward he will for the solace of his labours he must look forward
to the Gratitude of Posterity when men shall have
opened their Eyes upon what is around them and
at a future day shall have dared to judge & think for themselves. In hopes that
that better day will rise upon us & with the design of hastening its approach the exposure of these
fallacies has been undertaken
