In the course of and for the purpose of the secret intrigues
intrigues of which below by and by
pretences made for adhering to the corrupt promise made to Lord
Belgrave in breach of the previous legal one made to me that an
opposition on his part should prevent through applying to the purpose
of the establishment the spot they themselves were then tendering was
the Duke of Portland, by an unusually self- letter, with
Mr Baldwin for his Council and Mr King for his scribe, was ill advised
enough to write a letter avow in an address to the Treasury maintaining the avowing
the following designs and practices.

The last intentions of the late Treasury, as declared in their secret
last letter to me, as explained by their secret
correspondence + Further Proceeding 12 June 1801 were intentions of establishment or intentions of
relinquishment, whichever should best suit the argument & the convenience of the moment.
Taking them as intentions of relinquishment which was the
undoubted real import of them the relinquishment was as
declared grounds. [1.] Lapse of time. 2. Encrease of terms. 3. Improvements
in the Prisons. [5.] Improvements in N. S. Wales.

1. Lapse of time in their own work—their own wrong, perpetuated
for the purpose of taking advantage of it.
2. Encrease of terms—supposing it necessary and to take place, would
be all their own work—their own wrongs—perpetuated for the same purpose.

The question to me
about compensation
was to draw in me
release them—relieve
them from their engagements
which doing

till the end of my life.
