Reasons Case

d onServing in justification of the choice made Necessary Elucidations
of a part of Tothill Fields by the annexed Bill,shuting the grounds of the annexed
for the principal part of the Spot intended relative to the Bill for appropriating <add>a part of</add>Tothill

5458 acres: including the site of

Roads, which may occupy
fromabout 6 or 8 acres.

The Westminster Scholars as stated in the Bill make
use of the Waste as a Cricket Ground. and there is reason to b
that specific provision was made on their behalf for that spot in the Charter granted by
Queen Elizabeth for the foundation
of the School.

A considerable part of it, to the amount
of someseveral acres, in different spots is in a swampy state, both
summer and winter: a much more considerable
part in winter: and the whole of the portion Westlying
of at the back ofbehind Rochester Row, amounting to
upwards of 6 acres, is altogether as unproductive
being without a single blade of grass upon
it -and a considerable part of the remainder is
equally bare of herbage, the surface being around
and continually covered by fresh loads of Waste.
